I make it to the Detroit area once or twice a year. As usual, during my most recent visit this past weekend we ate dinner at The Stage. It was FANTASTIC! Food and service were fantastic. I live in the Pacific Northwest and we have no Deli that could come close to The Stage

Yummy! One of the best salads I've had in a while. Get the Stone Canyon when you visit. It was so good and the dressing was a lemony pepper dressing, it was delicious! This place is a hidden gem, the service is great, the vibe is vibrant and hip. I love it!

I've always wanted to come here. I'm an honorary Jewish member by proxy of all my Jewish Doctor Friends. I have been coughing for 2 weeks. I needed some Jewish Penicillin. I bought a quart of Matzo ball soup and drank it down, boiling hot in the parking lot. Oy Vey!! So delicious and comforting!!! I also sampled the chicken salad, potato salad and Knish noodles. Made some new friends and had saw a pseudo Celebrity (of billboard fame). The next time someone I love is sick. Pu, pu, pu... I will be fixing them straight up with this soup!
We stopped for lunch at the Stage Deli on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated quickly. It is a large deli menu with soups, sandwiches, and burgers. I am sure most people could find something to their taste. We started with the Mushroom Barley soup, which was very good. We split the Fantasia sandwich (Turkey). The sandwich tasted fresh, but was dry for my taste. It could have used some sauce to give it flavor and texture. I liked the atmosphere with the painted portraits (Marilyn Monroe, etc...). The deli has a sortof New York feel. The prices were on the higher side for a deli, in my opinion, but the atmosphere and quality food justified it. I appreciate many of the items had two sizes. My wife and I both agreed we would be back to try a few other picks. Easy to like.
